Updated on: 29 Jan, 2024 02:53 PM

Aadhar Card is mandatory at this time for everyone. The good news is even newborns and children can apply for Aadhar. We all know the Aadhar card enrolment process in the case of adults, but when it comes to applying for an Aadhar card for your child, some clarity is needed. These days, many schools ask for the Aadhar number of the child while giving admission. If you haven't applied for it for your children yet, you can do so further by following the excerpt.

In this case, the process is divided into two parts- when the child is below five years and when the child is above five years. However, UIDAI has not given any instructions related to Aadhar for adults and Aadhar for children. For children below five years of age, biometric details will not be collected, and they have to update the biometric after attaining the age of 5 years, and later, after attaining the age of 15 years, Biometric details will be updated again. Updating the biometric details of children between 5 and 15 years old is mandatory, and the procedure is free of cost.

Thus, if you have applied for an Aadhar card before the age of 15 years, then in this case, you need to update your biometric details after turning 15.

Further, if at any stage of life, you want to change any of your Aadhar details, you can update it by visiting an enrolment center or through an online process.
